Anna looked down. "I...I want you to show me...how to bring someone to life." When Catherine got to the hotel, she walked up to the room and knocked on the door. "Ed, are you there?"

There was a moment of dead, awkward silence before the door had been knocked on. Ed blinked and walked up to it, opening it. "Catherine? What are you doing here?" he asked. He was glad to see her, but didn't really expect her to just randomly show up. (Erm....I'll just ignore the fact that Catherine must have been there earlier to know where Ed was....<.< >.>)

"I came to make sure that you two didn't get into too much trouble," she said somewhat cheerfully. Then she noticed Anna... Keeping her cheerful tone, which wasn't how she felt, she asked, "Who's she?" Anna looked at the new person in the room and was thinking the same thing, only she wasn't suspicious like Catherine was.

Ed glanced back, then quickly stepped out of the way so Catherine could get in. "Her names Anna. She's going to come with us to look for the Philosopher's stone." Ed said, returning the grin. He didn't catch onto any of Catherine's suspicions.

Catherine stepped further into the room. "And may I ask why she want's to find the Philospher's Stone?" Anna didn't answer right away, since she didn't like having to explain so many times.

"She wants to try...what we did." Ed said in a quiet way. "I agreed to let her come along for a little while, until she realizes that it'll never work...." he finished.

Anna remained silent. Catherine nodded. "I see." That'd better be all she wants.

Ed nodded and was quiet for a minute. Al was the one to speak first. "So, what have you been doing, Catherine?" he asked.

"Nothing much," Catherine replied shrugging. "Whenever I tell Roy that I'm bored, he makes me file paperwork, so I haven't been around HQ very often. He doesn't willingly let me do anything dangerous or interesting, so it's normally boring when you're not around. How have you been?"

Ed chuckled dryly. "It's the same as ever. We're not really finding out mutch about the stone very quickly, and there are a million little setbacks." he said. Al laughed. "Heehee. Brother's just impatient, is all! We've been just fine!" he said.

"That's good to hear." Anna was kinda just standing there. It was a liitle awkward for her to be standing there with these people she had never met before, who were talking about stuff that she had never heard of before. What is the stone that they're talking about.?

Ed glanced over to Anna, taking note of her unease. "Umm...So what should we do now?" he asked. Al thought for a second before answering. "Maybe we could show Anna some alchemy?" he suggested. Ed smirked. "Maybe. What do you think?" he said, turning to the girl in question.

"Um...sure...but what's alchemy?" she asked.

Ed snorted. "What?! You don't know? It is the reason you're here, after all." he said. "It's a science. With it you can do all sorts of things." Al began, since his brother didn't seem to be fulfilling his little obligation. You can use it to fix things, or make things...and...well, stuff like that." he said. Ed nodded. "Yeah. But it's not magic. There a laws: Equivalent exchange. Like chemistry, all the reactions must be balanced. The end result must have at least similar properties as the original materials."

"Okay. I get it so far." "In most cases, you also need a transmutation circle," Catherine added.
